If you run a mail server and saw api.verifygenius.com (169.58.33.41) in your logs: that was a mailbox check, not an email.

• It connects, asks whether one business address exists (RCPT TO), then disconnects. It never sends a message.
• It checks addresses published on UK companies' own websites, or built from the names of a company's registered directors, so that later business emails don't bounce.
• It is slow on purpose: one conversation per domain at a time, and at most one check per domain every few seconds.
